Koko Black competition - brainstorming

Dave threw the gauntlet down at me for this competition last month and having seen his mock up - i'm not sure i'm able to meet his challenge! His progress notes look fantastic and he's well on his way to realising his idea.

The brief has daunted me and i've spent weeks staring at and thinking about the giant burrow and what do i want to come out of it. In passing, i thought of a spiral that goes up as koko(black)pods and comes down as eggs, but it's rabbits that are coming out of the burrow for me.

Is this going to win me a year of chocolate and a ticket to diabetes? I've thrown down the gauntlet to n.t. and we'll see what she comes up with (which will probably kick my ass)

My brother was getting married and rather than just stick up those paper double happinesses and letters spelling out their names in our house for the tea ceremony, I designed and made this poster.

The hardest part was making the double happiness stencil and stencilling the pattern on without having any idea of the principles of stencilling.

King's disciples - the mixtape

I had this idea to remix/mash-up Michael Jackson with the artists today most directly influenced by his model of singer/dancer/entertainer a little while back, and I've posted Billie Jean, Scream and I want you back previously on this blog. Since his passing I've rounded out the set with a few more tracks to make a complete mixtape. It's amazing how easily his music is transplanted into the current pop scene, although given the artists involved it's not all that surprising. Enjoy!

In memoriam - Michael Jackson 1958-2009

PS - Had to re-upload the mixtape after finding a couple of bloopers in U rock my world, which are now fixed. Also, the back cover doesn't list Clipse on Billie Jean, but they're in there and I hope they don't come and shoot me or something.

Change

I've been following Australian artist Daniel Merriweather since he put out "She's got me" on Mark Ronson's Here comes the fuzz disc. He's about to release his solo debut, Love and War, and the first single is "Change (feat Wale)." His record label has put out a remix contest for the track - so here's my effort:

It's probably not even going to be allowed because, typically, I didn't read the fine print in the contest rules which state you're supposed to be from the US and also no additional music not in public domain can be used (I've sampled Ann Peebles).
